He was born October 10, 1951 in Talco, Texas the son of Jack and Viola (Watts) Grammer. Ray was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cason, Texas and a heavy equipment operator at Lone Star Steel where he was also a member of the United Steel Workers Union. He is survived by his wife, Beth Van Zandt of Pittsburg, Texas; children, Cynthia Hicks of Gladewater, Texas, Judy and Bryan Naples of Hughes Springs, Texas, Patricia and Jimmy Billings of Hughes Springs, Texas, Kenneth and Jessica Bretches of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Kevin and Tammy Burns of Chandler, Texas; 11 grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Robert Felps of Port Arthur, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; Jack and Viola Grammer and Sammy and Ruth (James) Van Zandt; one grandchild; 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Cason. Interment will follow at the Talco Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
