Window Shopping The West Edmonton Mall in Canada is one of the biggest in the world. The mall has an average of 80,000 customers every day regardless of the season or the weather. The mall’s parking lot has the capacity for more than 20,000 vehicles and has more than 800 stores. This mall provides livelihood to more than 23,000 people. It is spread over an area of 350,000 square meters approximately. Best of all is the fact that the mall has its own amusement park. People go to malls for about 3 hours or more. They know what they NEED to buy but they start with window shopping: take breaks to eat, drink, play, relax and continue. They end up with: buying something completely different from what they set out to buy initially; buying their initial NEED; buy nothing. Window shopping can be very interesting but it is laden with distractions. Imagine that you have been allocated a fully functional store at the West Edmonton Mall and you have to waddle through this shopping mall to find it. You have no map, and your store sign has not been fixed. Nobody knows the name of your store as such, they can’t help with direction. How easy do you think this search will be? The first thing you will have to contend with is the ability to FOCUS in the midst of distractions. 80,000 people, 20,000 vehicles, 800 stores of which one is yours. You find yourself strolling across 350,000 square meters of space – looking for your expected end. 1. Some people just keep strolling; they stop at any distraction and they give up on the search for their promise land. 2. Some go to the amusement park and opt to pick up dirt; they give up on finding their store. 3. Some just stop at the car park; never finding their store 4. Some beg to have just a little space in front of someone else’s store; and they manage. 5. Some actually get close to their store but give up on the search and opt for – que sera sera. 6. Sad as it may, some walk pass their store because they can’t recognize it. Life is like a mall that is full of distractions. In Jeremiah 29:11, God says that, He knows the thoughts that He thinks toward you, they are thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to bring you to an expected end (store). In Psalm 32:8, God said He wants to instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go: He wants to guide you with His eye. God wants to lead you in the face of distractions so that you can get to your store. But can you hear God when He speaks to direct you? When He leads, do you follow? God created the West Edmonton Mall (earth), He knows the 7 Billion people living on earth. He knows the number of hair strands on each of the 7 Billion people. When you lose a strand of hair, He knows. How many years have you spent embracing distractions? Distractions come in form of failed marriage, failed business, failed relationship, failed parenting, failed career, loads of money, no money, successful liposuction, beauty regime gone wrong……….whatever it is – God wants to LEAD YOU and GIVE YOU REST. Quit Window Shopping and Find your Store. Say this prayer with me - Lord Jesus, Lead me to my rest. I dedicate / re-dedicate my life to you. Lead me Lord. Teach me your ways.
