Im in the home stretch of my fundraiser challenge with less than 30 days to go. Here is how your donation dollars are being allocated. $1 will protect 1 hectare (2.5 acres) of pristine forest containing endangered species, important carbon storage, an indigenous people’s history and incredible natural beauty. $1 will pay an indigenous family for taking care of one endangered Charapa turtle $35 will fund a Cofan ranger’s equipment (uniform, pots, pans, tent) for one month, giving him or her the tools to survive in the forest as he or she monitors the ecosystem and protects against illegal mining, logging, oil exploration, etc. $75 funds one Cofan ranger’s food and first aid kit for one month, making sure he or she is equipped to care for him or herself while helping to provide the best protection for 1 million acres of forest. $200 enrolls one mother and child in a yearlong malnutrition alleviation program managed by Timmy Global Health and its local partners. $250 will help cover the transportation costs of a several day long canoe trip from remote indigenous communities in the Amazon to stand against destructive projects of oil development. $850 funds a Community Health Worker for one year including their recruitment, training and medical provisions $2,000 to fund the permanent presence of a ranger station team for one month as they keep illegal miners, loggers, and oil companies out of the Rio Cofanes Reserve. $2,500 a month to fund a Cofan community conservation project of Amazon River turtles that has released over 100,000 turtles into the wild! $5,000 will fund a patrol team as they traverse raging rivers, hack through dense forest and document illegal activities across 1 million acres of forest. $6,300 will fund all direct costs (medicine, diagnostic tools, referral system and coordination) for one weeklong Recurring ShortTerm Medical Clinic serving 450,650 patients by Timmy Global Health. $8,000 a month to completely fund a team of 10 Cofan rangers who protect 1 million acres of forest, thousands of plants and animals and invaluable environmental services. $15,000 makes available an incountry physician for one year at a partner clinic to provide regular care to patients Please make your donation before December 31st, 2013 to help me protect and preserve the Amazon and the people who call it home. https://otmseva.fundraise/melanie-smith
