With horrifying events such as this we are often quick to judge - TopicsExpress

With horrifying events such as this we are often quick to judge the mum (who has been found and charged) but does that help? Does it prevent it from happening again? No. From my own experience as a single mum (26 years ago), with little family support and still essentially a teenager myself, I know how hard it is and what it feels like to be faced with judgement and the harsh reality of having a baby on my own. I wonder if things have gotten any better with this current event playing out in the news. We dont know the circumstances of this mum, we dont know her story and we dont know how desperate she felt in order to think that this was her best move. It makes no sense to me and rather than string her up, I want to ask those questions, just like this dad has.... brilliantly I might add. Because clearly we are not, as a society, doing enough for young mums... and clearly we leave the other important person out of the equation too... where was the dad? WARNING: This may open your eyes and make you think differently about single mums... at least I hope so.
