With most the PREMIER DIVISION sides involved in cup duties this week there was only one league fixture that did take place as WILNECOTE GLOBE met STUDIO in a match where both sides after promotion last term were still looking for their first points of the new season . Globe took the lead with a header from Rael SHELDON but two defensive mistakes cost the Globe who lost in the end 2-1 . The Studios first win of the season lifted spirits after a horrid start to the season . The game started quite evenly but The Studio started to get a foothold on the game , pressing Globe and turning the ball over comfortably . They created much of the better chances but found themselves 1-0 down at half time after conceding from a cheap free kick . Second half and The Studio kept the high tempo pressure but started doing more with ball , knocking it around neatly . The equaliser came from Daniel EASTGATE after his strength shrugged off the defender and his shot came back off the keeper back into his path for him to bundle the ball home . The winner was a comical twenty five yard worldy from the Globe left back who under no pressure at all , smashed it over his keepers head into his own goal to gift Studio the points ................. DIVISION 1 saw an in form VAULTS host SNARESTONE GLOBE in a thrilling game to watch for any neutral . Clinical finishing by Snarestones BARKER was the difference between the two sides in an eight goal thriller as he scored all five goals in a 5-3 victory for his side in a game that could of gone either way , with Vaults also hitting the bar twice and Snarestone missing a penalty . Gregg DUDLEY carried on his goal scoring from the week before and put the Vaults 1-0 up . Snarestone then missed a penalty that Dave Price saved and kept Vaults ahead . Snarestone did manage two grab an equaliser after a ball was met by there striker who slotted it home . Vaults regained the lead through Matt BIGGS , but again Snarestone levelled . Snarestone then grabbed two more goals to make it 4-2 before Jamie NEWBOLD got a goal back for the Vaults to make it 4-3 but Snarestone yet again grabbed another goal to make it 5-3 and run out winners ….. Another high scoring game saw HURLEY UNITED triumph over POLESWORTH ROYAL OAK . Polesworth started the better and hit the bar and then Hurley went up the other end and scored after a big kick from the Hurley keeper and a great touch from David BRUSH saw him finish well . Oak then pulled a goal back when a mix up between the Hurley defender and keeper saw the Oak forward poke it home to make it 1-1 . Hurley then made it 2-1 when BRUSH headed home from a Sam Wilson cross . Another defensive mistake from Hurley then saw Oak make it 2-2 . Just before the break Hurley made it 3-2 when Brush hit the post but SEARS was on hand to put in the rebound . Then after the break Hurley scored the goal off the game when defender Paul KELLY produced a good piece of skill to go past the Oak winger , then played a give and go with Sears and then curled it into top corner with his left foot from twenty five yards . Even the Oak players and fans applauded the goal . Oak then pulled a goal back , again with a really good finish . Hurley then carried on their good attacking play with good work again by Wilson beating the Oak defender and pulling the ball back for a great finish by the inform Steve SEARS . Dave BRUSH then added another two , making it four for himself in the game . Then Hurley made it 8-3 when good link up play with P. Kelly , Dave Brush and Sears again saw a cool finish from SEARS , slotting it past the keeper to complete his hat trick . Polesworth then got a late consolation goal to make it 8-4 but the game was over by then …............ DIVISION 2 saw a struggling REAL BELGRAVE meet OFFICE and with another player back for Belgrave this week it was a much better performance from the new look side . Real Belgrave went 1-0 in front after ten minutes with FRANCIS slotting home from inside the area . Real Belgrave were pressing and got caught on the break for Office to make it 1-1 before the break . Second half was again mostly Belgrave as they now seem to be coming more like a side but missing some chances to finish the game off cost them when Office scored from a cheap free kick in to the box to secure a 2-1 win . With a few more weeks and players to return Real Belgrave could start to look like the side they have been in the past ….......... DRAYTON BASSETT revenged a 7-1 thrashing they suffered by FAZELEY TOWN on the opening day of the season by beating them this time out 2-0 . It was Fazeleys third consecutive defeat where based on chances they should have had something from the game . In a makeshift team due to injuries , Matt brown playing in midfield gave a soft free kick away which Drayton Bassetts Dean CORDELL rifled into the net from thirty yards out with a great finish giving the keeper no chance . The rest of the match was a fairly even contest with Drayton getting their second in the final moments when Fazeley were desperately hunting the equaliser as Adam CLARK scored a well taken goal . Ellison , Norsworthy and Jones were amongst those who had chances but could not put them away costing Fazeley in the end …........... DIVISION 3 and leaders WILNECOTE QUEENS HEAD could consider themselves lucky to come away with only a point this week following a dire performance against SPORTS BAR ATHLETIC . Maybe the Queens players turned up believing a win was a foregone conclusion , but this was definitely not the case as a lively Sports Bar were allowed to create decent chances , thankfully for Queens they failed to take them . Queens created limited chances in the first half and could not find that killer instinct in the final third , Sports Bar threatened on the counter-attack but equally could not create clear chances of their own . The second half continued in the same manner however slack defending from a corner allowed Sports Bar to score the opener . Queens Head made changes to try and find the necessary spark , but again could not take their chances when they appeared . As the game drew to a close Queens pushed on but got caught with the ball trying to play out of defence , Sports Bars attacker only had one man on the line to beat to score but struck his shot at the defender !! Queens then managed to go up the other end where after some neat passing the ball fell to GREENWOOD in the area who smashed home making it 1-1 . In the dying moments Queens player Dave Hill used his pace to go through one on one with the keeper , only to be denied twice and then shoot high and wide . The 1-1 scoreline would be fair to both teams , but Queens will need to do a lot better in the upcoming fixtures if they wish to fight for trophies this season ….......... EDINGALE SWIFTS produced their poorest performance of the season so far as they lost 4-2 to ST JOHNS . The game started with both teams trying to get some rhythm in their play , this wasnt helped as the referee seemed to want to blow for every single challenge that was made . Both teams were showing endeavour but mainly long range shots that were either wide , high or easily saved by the keepers . St. Johns took the lead after Edingales best spell as their striker Corey RICHARDSON beat two defenders and toe poked into the corner of the net from twelve yards . This seemed to make Edingale doubt themselves and it was 2-0 not long later , as again some good build up play from St. Johns resulted in a decent finish from Harley BAKER . Edingale hit back ten minutes before half time when a throw in from the right was collected by Kieran CHERRIE who beat three defenders with a mazy run before forcing a shot under the keeper from eight yards out . The second half started and Edingale were pushing for an equaliser . Dave Cooke played in Cherrie but his shot was well saved by the keeper at his near post . The equaliser did come though as a great quickly taken free kick by Alex Fallon was met by the head of CHERRIE who glanced it past the keeper . This seemed to galvanise St Johns who stepped up there play to create a few chances but it took an excellent thirty yard strike from Joshua Jaffa WILLIAMS to restore St Johns lead as Edingales hard work was undone so soon . Edingale were still in the game but werent really creating many chances and the killer blow was dealt in injury time when the St Johns striker Kieran RICHARDSON rounded Danny Bowles and slid the ball into the net to finish the game at 4-2 ......... DIVISION 4 and after a couple of hard weeks , NEWTON ALLIANCE went into their game with DYNAMO SPORTS BAR with three points in mind . It also seems Dynamo had the same idea . Newton did very well again in the first twenty minutes or so , pressing high up field as often as possible . Unfortunately many chances went high and wide . Alliance finally broke the dead lock when Mitch BIRD executed a fine lob over the keeper from the edge of the box for 1-0 which is how it remained until half time . Second half and Alliance needed more of the same and each time Dynamo had a chance the Alliance defence cleared the ball away with a solid back four performance and the goalkeeper not putting a foot wrong . As the game went on Dynamo tried piling some pressure on with a fair few chances with most of them from long range and it looked as if they couldnt buy a goal . With both teams making subs in the last fifteen minutes it was fresh legs that made the difference for Dynamo , as they forced a mistake on the Alliance midfield and Dynamo finally got their goal to finish 1-1 when Ben HARTMAN fired in from twenty yards out …............ STONYDELPH travelled to play MERCIAN and it was an end to end start to the game with both teams pushing for an early goal , but it was Stonydelph with the first real chance when Richard Mattison was played through on goal but fired his shot at the Mercian goal keeper who tipped the ball wide for a corner kick . With both teams pushing for the first goal of the game it was again Stonydelph with the better chances this time the ball falling to the feet of Perry Fitzmaurice in the penalty area who fired his shot over the bar from twelve yards out . Despite Stonydelph creating the better chances it was Mercian who were handed the lead when Stonydelph goalkeeper Gordon REID attempted to throw the ball out early to his team mate but clumsily the ball slipped out of his hand and into the path of the onrushing Mercian striker who placed the ball into the empty net for 1-0 embarrassing the keeper with it . Stonydelph now pushing for an equaliser nearly scored twice in quick succession when a Lloyd Bashford corner was met by the head of Daniel Hathaway who headed against the crossbar from little more than a yard out , Mercian only half cleared the ball and Jared Davis thrashed a left foot volley against the post from twenty yards out . With half time fast approaching Stonydelph equalised through Perry FITZMAURICE when he was played in on goal by Darren Goodby and despite being partially tackled by the Mercian defender the ball ricocheted back into the path of Fitzmaurice who fired past the goalkeeper into the far corner of the goal and the teams were level at the break . Stonydelph were dealt a blow early in the second half when striker Richard Mattison was forced off through injury and replaced by David Hewins . In a closely contested second half it was Mercian who retook the lead midway through the half when a long throw into the Stonydelph penalty area wasnt dealt with and was simply headed home into the goal from close range . This seemed to fire Stonydelph up and they went straight up the other end and equalised through substitute David HEWINS when he controlled the ball just inside the Mercian half , nut megged a midfielder then fired home an unstoppable half volley from thirty yards out . Two minutes later and Stonydelph took the lead for the first time in the game when an Adam Leavold corner was fired in low and hard to the near post were Dean SMITH was on hand to flick the ball into the goal to make it 3-2 to Stonydelph . Only a minute later and Stonydelph doubled there lead when the Mercian defence could only half clear there lines and Grant Vause headed the ball back into the Mercian penalty area and into the path of David HEWINS who turned and volleyed into the far corner making it 4-2 . Stonydelph now controlling the game nearly scored again when David Hewins played in Adam Leavold down the right hand side but he could only fire his shot over the bar . Stonydelph did increase there lead in the final minute when a quick free kick by Darren Goodby was played into the path of David HEWINS who flicked the ball past the onrushing Mercian goalkeeper from twelve yards out for his hat-trick and seal a 5-2 win with it for Stonydelph …......... FAZELEY TOWN RESERVES were involved in a nine goal classic with ANKERSIDE RANGERS who were 2-0 up in the first ten minutes , first from a close range effort from Rich TONKS and then moments later Ankerside went further ahead as Stuart HITCHES curled into the top corner from outside the box . Ankerside then missed several chances before they let a goal in from long range and then sloppy defending meant they were pegged back level at 2-2 . Ankerside slowly started to get back into the game and before half time they went back in front thanks to Matt COX tapping in from close range after a shot from Liam Ormsby . In the second half Ankerside created a few chances and Rich Tonks hit a post as well as Ankerside squandering a few chances before they self destructed again and let in two quick goals , one from a debatable penalty . To Ankersides credit they didnt give up and kept pressing and then with only a few minutes left they got the breakthrough as Ash EALES showed good pace to race onto a through ball and lift it over the onrushing keeper . As time ran out Ankerside kept up the pressure and got their reward when PEGG struck from the edge of the box to wrap up the points in a 5-4 win for Ankerside Rangers …......... ELLISION ROSE BOWL CUP action saw a tight all Division 2 encounter between COTTAGE FARM RANGERS and POST take place . After the last couple of weeks , Cottage Farm must have been fearing the worst ahead of their trip to Anker Valley to meet an in form Post who have been scoring goals for fun recently whilst Cottage have been on the end of some big defeats . However, with players returning from holidays and injuries , Cottage Farm were able to field nearly a full strength side and even had enough for a couple of substitutes and a linesman this week which was a first for a while . The first half started brightly for both sides but little was created in the way of clear cut chances, with a few long range efforts doing little to trouble either keeper . However , Post took the lead midway through the half when Carl TEDDS took the ball past two Cottage Farm defenders before beating the keeper at the near post . It was harsh on Cottage Farm who were appealing that the ball was already out for a goal kick in the build up . The game continued in the same vein for much of the half with both sides enjoying possession and efforts from distance being saved well by both keepers , and both sides defending well from set pieces .T he kick off for the second half showed the intention of Cottage Farm who nearly scored straight from the centre circle when they caught the Post keeper sleeping . Both sides continued to play attacking football , counter-attacking each other at every opportunity . Post twice clearing off the line when an equaliser beckoned , whilst Cottage Farm also cleared a goal-mouth scramble off their own line with Post players wishing goal line technology was available . There was still time for Cottage Farm to hit the post after the keeper made a mess of a routine through ball , however Post held on to move into the next round of the cup with a narrow 1-0 win ….......... TAMWORTH ARMS GALACTICOS of Division 1 were never in any danger of slipping up in their game with Division 4s HURLEY KINGS and after being on the end of a rather embarrassing double figure loss last week , it was their turn to dish out a double figure scoreline this week . After their humiliating 15-0 defeat the Galactico lads decided to have a night in and show up sober so they started off in sensational style with FULFORD scoring a volley from a Redfernd cushioned header which started the rout . Galacticos then went into samba mode with a goal frenzy with Costa Con FULFORD and Didier PARKER both scoring three . Eden FOXALL , Cristiano Colby McADAMS and Balotelli BALL getting the other two …........... Premier Division APPLEBY MAGNA swept aside Division 4s WILNECOTE PRINCE and despite missing at least fifteen one on ones they still ran out 8-0 winners . HART scored four of them goals whilst FISHER bagged a brace along with goals for STEVENSON and JORDAN …........ LEAGUE CHALLENGE CUP saw Division 1s PROGRESSIVE go into their game with Premier Division AFC BOLEHALL full of confidence after hitting Galacticos for fifteen the previous week . Progressive won 3-0 in a game that they started sluggish but grew in to and a goal by ELSE via the penalty spot just before half time gave Progressive a 1-0 lead . The second half Bolehall were awarded a penalty which produced an excellent save from the Progressive keeper , then chance after chance went begging for the Progressive until ELSE scored his second and third completing his hat trick and the 3-0 win for Progressive to continue their fine start to the season …........ Premier Division WOOD END SPORTS proved too strong for their opponents DUG OUT from the league below as they ran out 6-0 winners . It was a relatively comfortable game against a hard working Dug Out team . FOUR goals from Dale FARLEY and one each for John TAYLOR and Ant FALLON saw Wood End into the next round …........... Division 2s Mad Dog Tattoo FC went into their game this weekend looking to eclipse their previous cup shock victory over AUSTSREY RANGERS from the PREMIER DIVISION only two weeks ago and were intent on proving the first time out was no fluke having already played them off the park once . Austrey had claimed pre match that lightening wasnt about to strike twice and they were intent on putting the record straight and that previous loss behind them . Straight from the kick off the Mad Dog Tattoo team were hungry to show the last result wasnt just a flash in the pan from two weeks ago where they dumped their opposition out of another cup and they started with a desire that was clear for all to see from the watching crowd . Within minutes of the kick off Mad Dog Tattoo had taken the lead and given themselves even more belief that lightening was about to strike twice as Dave GADSBY punished a poor Austrey backpass to nip in and the rob the ball and then round the Austrey keeper and slot into an empty net for 1-0 . The next ten minutes was all one way traffic as Mad Dog Tattoo laid siege to the Austrey goal and Austrey were struggling to cope with the pressure and couldnt get out their own half and play their normal pretty football . Much the better side Mad Dogs could easily of been 3-0 up before Callum FREWIN pulled something out the bag that he will probably never again as he rinsed the Austrey back line inside out and after a cheeky Cryaff turn from the byline on the edge of the eighteen yard box leaving his man mesmerized , he smashed in a rocket from an acute angle that flew into the top corner of the net that no keeper in the world would of stopped for 2-0 to Mad Dog Tattoo . Suddenly Austrey woke up but it had taken them twenty minutes to do so and they began to cause Mad Dogs a few problems , Sim Smith especially as he rattled a post with a sweet twenty yard drive that the Mad Dog keeper just managed the slightest of touches on and the ball cannoned off the post and rolled across the line and was then cleared to safety . It was now end to end and Austrey were enjoying some good possession and opening up the Mad Dog defence but two or three very good chances went begging for them , whilst up the other end Mad Dog could of increased their lead and a very entertaining half of football ended 2-0 . The second half began and Mad Dogs were well and truly on the back foot as Austrey changed their shape and came at Mad Dogs and peppered the Mad Dog goal and deservedly grabbed a life line ten minutes into the half when a a lovely through ball from Shutt across the box found Sim SMITH unmarked at the far post for a simple tap in , for only his second goal this season . Mad Dog Tattoo now had to withstand a barrage of attacks as Austrey clearly lifted by the goal continued to look the more likely to score but some very stubborn defending from Hales , Bolter , Phipps and Derrington kept them at bay and when their defence was breached they had the big man Darrel Hales to thank as he produced three world class saves to stop Austrey drawing back level . Mad Dog Tattoo were now hanging onto their one goal cushion and didnt look half the team they were in the first forty five minutes but after being on the end of twenty minutes of Austrey pressure they did against the run of play take a 3-1 lead when Will TAMPLIN tried to better team mate Callum Frewins first half strike with a plum of a goal as from all of thirty yards out he caught a bouncing ball on the half volley to unleash a thunderbolt that screamed into the top corner . The goal clearly woke Mad Dogs up and within minutes you would have been forgiven for thinking the contest was over as a terrific solo goal scored by Dave GADSBY made it 4-1 to Mad Dog Tattoo . The ball looked to be going out of play on the half way line when Gadsby controlled it and flicked it in front of himself and ran with pace goalwards from just inside his own half with Austrey defender Ryan Stroud jockeying him all the way , but Gadsby was waiting for the defender to commit and as he did Gadsby megged him cheekily and continued his run onto goal one on one with the keeper before megging the keeper aswell and blasting home the goal that should of taken the wind out of Austreys sails . With fifteen minutes to go the whistle couldnt come quick enough for Mad Dogs but leading 4-1 they seemed to shut down again thinking the game was won and as legs began to tire Austrey piled on more pressure and pulled a goal back when some lovely work from Sim Smith out wide saw him turn the Mad Dog full back inside out and roll a ball across the box to repay SHUTT for his earlier assist who coolly slotted home from six yards out . It was all one way traffic now with Austrey all out attack but again Darrel Hales had to be alert to push a good effort over the bar but he couldnt do nothing about Austrey scoring again as the pressure told and ABBOT lashed home making it 4-3 with seven minutes remaining . Always a threat on the counter attack with Austrey throwing everything forward in an attempt to force extra time Mad Dog had a couple of very good chances to put the icing on the cake but failed to score which could of cost them had Sim Smith who in the last minute found himself in the six yard box with a free header and open goal but spooned his effort the wrong side of the post for what would have been a thoroughly deserved equalising goal and with Mad Dogs tiring like they were maybe extra time if it came would have been too much and the game would of gone Austreys way but the final whistle blew and Mad Dogs certainly proving lightening can strike twice as they once again dumped much fancied Premier outfit Austrey Rangers out of yet another BIG Cup competition winning 4-3 in a much closer game than it was last time out . …...... WILNECOTE WMC of Division 1 were involved in a tight game with Premier Divisions ROYAL OAK KINGSBURY . The lower league side took an early lead through a DEVLIN looping header into top corner . Oak responded with some good possession and creating half chances . Wilnecote had a couple of clear cut chances but failed to increase their lead which would cost them dear in the end . The second half Oak equalised early with no Wilnecote player taking the initiative to clear in their own box presenting Oaks COLLIER with a gift of a goal . Again Wilnecote created good chances but just could not convert and Oak then punished them taking the lead 2-1 through CARR . The last ten minutes of the game was all Wilnecote as they threw everything at Oak and again good chances were missed and Wilnecote bowed out of the competition losing 2-1 after a spirited performance that saw them match the Premier side all the way but just falling short in front of goal ….......... FC BONDS of Division 1 matched a very good WILNECOTE RED LION side from the Premier Division and were only 2-1 down at half time . Lion started brightly and a superb cross from Simon Latchford was met by Adam DELANEY to give Lion the lead . Lion continued to probe and were rewarded when this time Kieron Cleary crossed and Tom SHAKESPEARE was on hand to net . Bonds Adam DARBY scored with a right foot rocket from twenty yards out to give his side some belief going into the break only a goal behind . Red Lion increased their lead to 3-1 thanks to a Reece LYNCH goal and then Bonds didnt help themselves when a defensive mix up allowed Dayel CAVENEY to capitalise on the mistake to make it 4-1 . Bonds then managed to get themselves another goal as Wez TRUNKS scored but it wasnt going to count for anything as Red Lion scored again when Kieron Cleary played in Red Lions man of the match Adam DELANEY who made it 5-2 and game over …........... LEAGUE CHALLENGE TROPHY saw TWO GATES UNITED RESERVES of Division 4 defeat COTON ARMS from the league above 6-3 . CARDUS who has been in fine goalscoring form this season netted four of his sides goals with WORRELL and HOLLAND grabbing the others . This was a very close contest and the scoreline flattered Two Gates Reserves , the scoring was opened by Two Gates who were awarded a very dubious penalty with the ref dubbing the left back Scott Simpson to handball in the area , penalty converted . Two Gates were creating and having more of the ball , it could of been 2-0 but for a fine save from stand in keeper Scott Edgington . Moments later it was level with Dan CLARK latching onto a flick on and burying it past the keeper .Into the second half and Coton Arms started brightly and were rewarded when the move of the match seen Spencer STEWARD slot home from twelve yards , it was then quickly 3-1 as Daniel COBB powered into an empty net after the keeper was found in no mans land . With twenty minutes left Coton Arms hit the self destruct button and Two Gates banged in FIVE goals in twenty emphatic minutes for the win …......... Division 3s SWIFTS were back to winning ways with a comprehensive victory against POLESWORTH SPORTS & SOCIAL from the league below winning 9-0 . Guy STERLING scored a hatrick , Matt CHARLTON and Dean BYRNE scored two , Ricky DREW and Sam LAWLER both getting goals too …......... Two Division 3 sides faced each other as GATE INN met WARTON CLUB . The Gate Inn were outplayed when they met Warton in the League a few weeks ago so they feared the worst when they travelled to Warton again this time without four key players . The Gate soaked up some early pressure then caught Warton out on the break when Kris MURRAY outpaced the Warton defence and coolly slotted the ball home to give the Gate a 1-0 lead . Warton pulled level a few minutes later with a controversial equaliser when the Gates keeper jumped to catch the ball under his cross bar only to be bundled over the line by a Warton forward . The Gate players were left in shock by the referees decision to award the goal and were still disputing the decision when Warton scored again on the stroke of half time to go in 2-1 ahead . The second half was end to end and both sides could have added to their goals tally but it was the Gates Kris MURRAY who levelled up the match at 2-2 slotting home from the penalty spot after being upended inside the Warton box . Warton pushed hard towards the end of the match looking for a winner but the Gates defence held firm until the final whistle taking the game into extra-time . Some hefty challenges were made by both sides in extra time as they looked to gain the upper hand but it was Warton who scored the decisive goal to go into the next round winning the match 3-2 . A much improved performance by the Gate Inn made Warton work hard for their win …..
