With the announcing of a second miracle attributed to the Blessed - TopicsExpress

With the announcing of a second miracle attributed to the Blessed Pope John Paul II, I was wondering how it is that a medical consensus is reached to determine what is a "miracle" rather than what is regular medicine. I was also asked by Matthew Berkeley in the comment section on the original post. I asked a friend of mine, who is a priest, how they come to a scientific consensus on the matter, and he answered with: "There will be medical doctors and other scientists on the commission put together to investigate. If they can they will interview family, friends and the medical personnel involved. They will also review the medical charts and consult the leading minds in medicine. After an exhaustive investigation they will arrive at a decision. In cases where there is no one still alive, they will still try to do the same: letters to and from the person may give them some info, perhaps notes or if it exists a medical record, reviewing biographies. Also if there is any hair, skin or blood samples anywhere they can run tests. They then take all of this info and o the same: consult medical doctors, universities and other scientists and based on the evidence they have make a decision." So they do science until there is no more science to be done, and make a decision based off of that.
