Woke up early and was on the list to go to theatre as planned for a routine 20min test. My platelets were low after last nights episode so they topped me up and away I went to the operating theatre. 20mins later my parents were still waiting and no nurses came which was odd. The head consultant came out and took my mum and dad in to a side room where they were told I was critical and had to be moved straight to intensive care! I dont remember this as I was still in the operating theatre fast asleep. I was moved to intensive care where I was looked after, the xray the doctors did showed my lung had failed (collapsed) in theatre when they tried to wake me back up and I needed 100% breathing support. They think this was down to my extreme nosebleeds night before and they think I aspirated on blood which caused a clot in my lung. The physio came at night when I was still sedated and basically jumped on my lung to get the clot out. It was the size of a cricket ball she said and she had never seen anything like it! At 1.30am I was still sedated but managed to take a selfie! Nurses were amazed I was fighting the sleeping drug and managed to do a selfie :) Im famous on the ward now everyone asking to see my pic lol by 7.30am I was fully awake and asking my parents for Crunchy Nut Cornflakes. I felt alot better but parents were nervous wrecks. They are keeping me in for a few days as no-one can believe I got well this quickly, im a real fighter!
