Wonder if it can ever be fought First smart meters from company Trilliant industries got them installed in United States, then Canada now proudly claiming the world. Below is Blog from Trilliant smart meters maker. Dear Friends: As we enter 2014, we are pleased to recap the progress we made at Trilliant during 2013, a year in which the Company expanded globally in a complex markets as governments, regulators and the private sector formulate their smart metering/smart grid strategies. Leading Customers In Europe, Trilliant’s standard-setting project with Centrica’s British Gas, the UK’s largest energy retailer, continued to expand, with a new agreement to develop and deliver pre-payment functionality (similar in concept to pre-paid phone cards and a traditional and popular method of electricity delivery in the U.K). This and other innovative capabilities deliver the benefits of “Smart” to British Gas customers. In January, the Guardian reported that more than half of households using smart meters are saving money on their energy bills, according to a survey by British Gas. Specifically, the survey found that “Smart” technology is helping 9 out of 10 people cut energy consumption and bills, with a third of BG’s smart meter customers saving up to 75 pounds a year. As a testament of the success of its “Smart” program, British Gas was recently named “Utility of the Year” in the annual European Smart Metering 2014 Awards. Also in the U.K., RWE npower, which serves about 6.5 million customers, has chosen Trilliant communications hubs, UnitySuite head end software and related services to support its initial smart meter deployment. In North America, Trilliant continued to deliver value to its customer Hydro One, an Ontario, Canada-based utility which now has1.05 million customers on Time-of-Use billing (more TOU customers than all TOUs in the US combined) enabled by Trilliant technology. Also in North America, Iberdrola USA’s Central Maine Power (CMP), was ranked first in the J.D. Power and Associates’ Business Customer Satisfaction survey. Announcing the survey, CMP noted strong customer communication during outages as a key driver of customer satisfaction and cited the investment in Advanced Metering Infrastructure as a key to this success. Iberdrola USA’s CMP continues to build its reputation as a global smart grid leader by educating other global utilities, such as Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the largest electric utility in Malaysia, on smart grid best practices from its Trilliant deployment. In the U.S. Tampa Electric Company (TECO) chose Trilliant’s SecureMesh WAN, to provide the reliability, bandwidth and low latency necessary for Volt/VAR control on its system. SecureMesh WAN, a part of the Trilliant Communications Platform, supports advanced distribution applications as well as AMI. In Asia, Trilliant and GE are working together to deliver smart grid benefits to customers of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco). The largest distribution utility in the Philippines (more than 5 million customers), Meralco is piloting its advanced smart grid roadmap with prepay functionality as its first service. Meralco’s long-term smart grid vision is to integrate “smart intelligence” into the electric distribution network to help consumers better manage their electricity consumption. And more recently, Trilliant has also been chosen by TNB, the largest electric utility in Malaysia, to provide end-to-end solutions for the utility’s first integrated smart meter and smart grid pilot. In the public power market, Trilliant continues to deliver services for its customers at Burbank (CA), Denton, and Victoria (TX). To further serve this market, GE has selected Trilliant’s Smart Grid Communications Platform to form the communications backbone of GE’s new Grid IQ Solutions as a Service (SaaS) offering, which addresses the unique needs of the public power industry. The City of Holly Springs, Mississippi has chosen Trilliant and GE through the Smart Grid SaaS offering to deliver benefits to its customers. Global Expansion and Thought Leadership As the smart grid goes global, Trilliant continues to work with leading global customers and partners and in active pursuit of new smart grid projects in Europe, Middle East, Asia and Latin America. Our successes have resulted in large part from Trilliant’s leadership throughout 2013 in educating and engaging the global smart grid community including best practices in deploying broad smart grid communications at smart grid conferences (DistribuTECH, European Utility Week, Asian Utility Week and Power & Electricity World Asia). Trilliant has also held numerous sessions with high-ranking delegations from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam through the U.S. government organized ASEAN Reverse Smart Grid Trade Missions. Additionally, Trilliant participated in the US – Japan Energy Policy Roundtable organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) and attended by senior-level officials from DOC, US Department of Energy and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
