WooHoo!!!! For the last few months, I have been the only person fighting North Seattle College from becoming a smoke-free campus. Our current smoking areas needed to be moved or eliminated due to the current locations being not under city compliance. I was all for a change with our smoking areas, but I was not for an entire smoke-free campus. I was aiming for repositioning the smoking areas to the outer parts of campus, which would keep the inner part of the campus smoke-free. This would be a win win situation for both the smokers and non-smokers. After being the only person to research the situation and only person to speak my concerns to the College Council, Student Council, Licton Springs Neighborhood Council and Executive Board. The Executive Board has decided to side with me on the situation on relocating the smoking areas and not becoming an entire smoke-free campus. I have had many people tell me along the way that I did not have a chance since I was not fighting it with other people. Or that the process of it becoming smoke-free was so far along the way that it couldnt be stopped. Well, after a few months of hard work and persistence, I DID IT! This is just to show that with good effort, an individual can make a change.
