World Tribune : Syrian army is dominated by 80% of Aleppo The newspaper World Tribune , the U.S. that the Syrian army tightened its grip on Aleppo , and is now controlled 80% of them. The newspaper quoted Western diplomats as saying : The army , backed by Hezbollah and the Iraqi militias , progressing steadily in Aleppo , in part due to his attempt to avoid the loss of lives and the destruction of the entire city , noting that the forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad advancing to Aleppo from three directions , and reached the neighborhood of the old city. They added that the opposition fighters on the defensive , and are subjected to constraints due to attacks on them from the organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant Daash . The diplomats said that the regime has succeeded in mobilizing thousands of Sunnis from Aleppo in the ranks of militias funded by his ruling party in order to create the city for the final assault , and swung to have it in the spring, next month.
