Would you call the police if your neighbor was laying in their front yard dying? The rescue squad? Would you allow your neighbors toddler to walk past you into traffic? Would you allow a woman to be raped and beaten in your presence? Could you conceive of such a lack of humanity in yourself? If you knew your neighbor had fallen upon hard times and they and their children were starving to death, wasting away into skeletal versions of their former selves, would you barbecue a pig and not offer them a meal or bring them a bag of groceries? When I consider the USA eschewing involvement in WW2 until Pearl Harbor was bombed… and the monstrous deaths and enslavement and torture of MILLIONS of JEWS and others in the concentration camps I am horrified. Do I want war? No. Do I want American prisoners of heinous regimes released? Yes. Do I feel we should DEMOLISH any and EVERY country that thinks it is okay to treat a SINGLE American in a manner not in keeping with the Geneva Convention (our world’s rule book for war if you don’t know) -- But ignoring the plight of the Jews? Of the brutalized, tortured and enslaved women living under the Taliban and Al Qaeda? Of the kidnapped girls in Nigeria? Ignoring them makes you as guilty as the bastards committing the crimes. Disgusted. Truly Disgusted. Are we good neighbors? Do we have any humanity left????
