Wow, I have at least visited or drove through 28 of the 50 States! FAR More than I expected when I counted them all up! I think its fair to say that this Never would have happened if I didnt go and take on this Trucking job! Grand Total miles in an 18 wheeler for 2014: ~ Approx 98,756 Miles that I have Personally driven. Variables include driving the Trainers truck in December 2013 for a little bit and also my time Off from trucking when going from US Xpress to A.N. Webber back mid April of 2014. Those times on and off closely equal about two weeks. Total Miles on my trucking GPS unit are 90,384 and I didnt get that GPS until about a week or two after leaving Tonys truck in early to mid January of 2014. *The above Miles numbers also do Not include time in the 10 wheeler flatbed/forklift truck in Sept and Oct of 2013, attempting to teach myself the Class A CDL. Nor do they include miles driven in the CDL Schools truck. (difference of 1,244 to make 100k)* I dont think Id have the miles to hit 100,000, and certainly not within the 12 Month Idea of a goal, but darn it.... I came awful Close to it!!! And this is coming from a wimpy, rookie trucker who absolutely hates the job and has probably (literally....) driven myself into a probable clinical depression through it all. This makes me think of when my Grandma Engels was alive and always talking about Goals and stuff. I never publicly proclaimed this miles goal, but it is one Ive had in the back of my mind all along, just something I myself wanted to see if I could do it. Well, darn it... I almost Did. HA! Sometimes, I cant help but wonder what my grandma E would think about this all, if she was still alive today. ** Back to that 10 wheeler rig thing in 2013, I was working with a friend/customer from my old job that I lost. He owned the day cab, single axle truck and delivered building materials for the local Menards store here in town with a couple of 30 foot single axle Flatbed trailers. He never paid me for the work, the Pay was my learning. I ALMOST got the A CDL on my own with his help, but admittedly, I probably put in less than my best effort. I since got the State Grant for the Real CDL school, and thats what got me into this trucking job in the first place. All along, it sure has been an interesting learning experience... Ive learned a LOT over the last full year and a couple months. Anyone who actually reads this post, thanks. But I do need to call out my USX trucker friends for their efforts along the way. Richard, and Bob... along with Tony, tagged above. For me, Tomorrow Starts another New Year. Will trucking remain? I dont know... I guess we shall see what the Lord has in mind, huh? All I can say is.... Wow. Not what I expected. :)
