Wow. This man just speaks everything that I would like to say! He really knows what he is talking about. I wrote a blog not too long ago about some of his ideas (wildida.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/rewilding-britain.html). I think perhaps he strives a bit too far but his ideas are wonderful and I would love to see his following grow and this become more of a possibility. This is George Monbiot and he believes that we should step back and allow the world to rewild itself - not the entirety but to take large areas of land and just leave it to recover. In the long run to reintroduce lost species to the UK such as wolves and bears (he even talks of bringing back wild elephants and rhinos which once roamed, yes in the UK). Okay some of his ideas are quite outlandish, but if you listen to the science behind what he says he is actually quite a genius. He talks about the reintroduction to wolves in the Yellowstone National Park and how this completely rejuvenated the wildlife... and he sees the possibilities this could allow across Europe and the UK. I would encourage you to watch this video - he puts into words a lot of what I try and explain but fail to do! I am certainly going to start following him a lot more closely from now on!!
