Wow...busy day at the farm today and what a beautiful day it was to be out working on different projects. Our nephew was visiting this weekend, so he and Todd started the day as the sun came up tracking coyote/fox. We have heard them in the woods and they have gotten to our neighbors chickens so its time to run them off. After breakfast we all jumped in the truck and went to pick up a new wood stove for the house, we are salvaging it from a friend who built a new home and is no longer using the stove. Once we returned to the house, Todd and Lance had to modify the drain pipe in our laundry room to accommodate our new washer and dryer, we swapped with my sister and it turned out to be a little bit of an adventure, all is well and the laundry is getting done :). After the washer and dryer were installed Todd and Lance were off to help a friend get their truck started a few miles down the road and then it was time to move the calves to pasture. Todd did a great job avoiding our young fruit trees while maneuvering the livestock trailer up to the gates to load the calves, Kendra had the fun task of trying to persuade the calves with a bucket of grain, the first calf was easy, well be done in no time, the second needed a little convincing that it was OK to step outside the gate, still not so bad. The last calf to load was not going! She was happy to stay where she was so Todd had to join me in the pen and use a sheet of plywood to block her from running past me, finally all three were in the trailer and we set them free in the field. It was so much fun to watch them run and jump in their new environment, our soft hearted calf, Tiny, was still following Kendra and looking to have his head rubbed, but it didnt take long for him to find a nice spot in the shade to lay down and rest. Back at the house and time to feed everyone, a few repairs to the pig pen and everyone was ready to settle in for the night. As we sit here tonight we are hearing the wild winds outside our window as a cold front moves in, I hope everyone is ready to snuggle up this week as we will be dropping into the low 20s and teens almost every night this week and those highs arent looking so high. God Bless and stay warm! Kendra Tribble
