Wowwwww! Such a beautiful recording. 1969 is the year I came to the United States from Cuba. I learned these words so proudly. Today I see such criticism of our pledge and it hurts me to witness the little love of country many people have claiming the many injustices that have taken place in America at one point or other in its history. Maybe we need to understand that the injustices were perpetrated by individual people and that gratefully many are in the path of being corrected. Corrected because courageous Americans stood up and fought to change those injustices. But human beings make a country and that country can only be as good or strong as every link that composes its chain of citizens. I write from another country im visiting this summer. I love this country as well since my children were born here. It too has its qualities and flaws, as does every country I know. People are diverse, and yes flawed. All we can do is try to better ourselves, make it a goal to protect and better our land and honor it as we should honor our family.....a value that seems antiquated as well. Thank you for this post, Jackie. I will proudly share and face the contempt of many because I believe in these words and I know we have improved our country in many ways in spite of an unfortunate few. I will always strive to respect and unite our land.
