Wozs Tardis - stayed up to watch the ashes last night and we got battered. When I was a bit more than a lad in 77 I was at Headingly to witness Geoff Boycotts 100th century against the convicts. Think it was just before tea time so was well bladdered by then. Back in the day you could take your own ale in. We had half a dozen cans of lager apiece, then the two blokes next to us brought in a crate of ale each which was impressive. However, this was outdone by the 2 blokes who followed, they brought a keg of ale in, sat it betwixt themselves and plonked the barrel on its own seat they had paid for. Back then you could leave the ground and got a stamp on yer hand, so you could zoom to the offy or pub opposite and top up. These days you gotta buy inflated crap beer at extortionate prices in a plastic glass. You could hire a pad to put on your seat for £2 which was a good idea to thwart the numb bum scenario, however as a proper tight Yorkshire bloke you didnt do that coz with all the supping, nipping to loo, out for supplies, standing up Ozzie taunting it didnt affect you. Ahh Happy (when cricket was followed by blokes) Days - dedicated to Martin Turnbull
