YEMAYA- The ancient true name is YEMOYALE = YEMO ÌYÁ ILÉ or YEMO the Mother of the Earth. She first ruled over the River, she was the ÌYÁ L’ODO (Mother of the River). She was the ÒRÌShÀ number 399 (in the order that the Human initiates of ÒÒShÀ became ÒRÌShÀ). Yemoyale, ÒShUN and ÒYÁ are Sisters. After Yemoyale, ÒYÁ became the ÒRÌShÀ number 400. After that Olofin added ÒShUN as the ÒRÌShÀ 401, the last one, the most junior, but the most close to OLÓFIN. When ÒShUN became the last ÒRÌShÀ, it was decided to give to ÒShUN the rulership over the Rivers, and Yemoyale was given the rulership of the Sea waters, together with OLÓKUN AYÉ. The first manifestation of YEMOTALE was YEMAYA ASESU, she was the Mother of ÓDÚ, who later was given the title of Orunmila. Yemoyale was the first woman to give birth inside the water.
