APC RAPED PDP OF VICTORY. #PDP Accuses EDSIEC, Edo Govt of Fraud in Rescheduled Edo LG Poll# The PDP in Edo State, has described Tuesday LG election which took place in Esan North East LGA of the state as a “travesty that is only fit for a comic movie.” The EDSIEC, had on Tuesday, declared the candidate of the APC, Honourable Sam Oboh, winner of the election, polling 12,672 to defeat the PDP’s candidate, Honourable John Yakubu, who was credited with 3,314 votes. At a press briefing addressed at the secretariat of the party, Edo State chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, in the company of other leaders of the party in the state, said the result, as announced by EDSIEC, was not a reflection of the election, pointing out that collation of result was ongoing when the result was announced by EDSIEC. Orbih said the APC was not qualified ab initio to contest the election, since the party did not contest the first election and the EDSIEC turned a deaf hear to the issue when he raised it. He said the announcement was at the instance of a former secretary to the state government, who, he said, was used by the Edo State government to announce the result. “The result has no bearing with those collated on the field by EDSIEC officials. The returning officer declared the results at the polling units and were collating them to be sent to their superiors when the announcement was made in Benin. It is a shame and it shows that Oshiomhole has no interest in democracy,” Orbih stated. He displayed a result he said was collated by EDSIEC officials, who conducted the election, adding that the result was compiled in the presence of police, SSS and officials of the Civil Defence Corps. In the result as stated by Orbih, the candidate of the PDP polled a total of 11,212 votes, while the APC’s candidate scored 6,143 votes. He added that the EDSIEC chairman could not give a breakdown of the result, because it was concocted and that no mention was made by the EDSIEC chairman of the other elections that were conducted on Tuesday, during the short press briefing. He said “this is one result that will never stand. We will challenge it in the court of law, court of public opinion and the press. This is not about the PDP, APC ACN. This is about democracy. People in APC don’t believe in democracy. They believe in ballot box snatching and other vices which belong to the past.
