YOGAEXPO was a not-for-profit company set up to develop a particular event: hence the name YOGAEXPO. Recently however it was decided to develop a new event called SUPER RETREAT – scheduled for October this year. In the future however we have plans to further broaden our activities to include other types of events and activities. Therefore, in order to avoid any possible confusion between the event itself and the entity organising the event, we have decided to rename the company YOGAVISION. From now on it will be YOGAVISION organising the SUPER RETREAT (or, for example, the YOGAEXPO, as the case may be). As implied, our ‘vision’ for the future of YOGAVISION will simply be to do whatever we can to help support the continuing development of yoga in so far as it has been taken up by the contemporary world in which we now live. Yoga, as is being increasingly appreciated, is not a one-dimensional process, or a process of one aim only. Its implications are as pervasive as human nature itself, and likewise its applications in the process of nurturing human development to its highest potential. As such there are unlimited different ways in which yoga can be approached, and by which the benefits of yoga may come to be experienced. As YOGAVISION we hope to make our contribution to yoga, and to the world, by helping extend its influence as far as possible. For good health, overall well-being and progressive development of our human faculties, we all need to be ‘in yoga’. Right now we as individuals, and the world as a whole, are decidedly ‘out of yoga’. At the risk of being flippant we could say, just ‘out of it’! The ‘it’ we are ‘out of’ implies a state of balance, of well-being, of optimum physical, mental and spiritual health. Only in this condition of balanced existence and consciousness can we see where our true self-interest lies, and what actually constitutes genuine success and happiness in life. With this clarity of vision - yoga vision - we can begin the journey of our much needed healing; the healing of ourselves, the healing of our society, the healing of the world in which we live. For those of you who are already part of the great journey ‘into yoga’, fellow travellers on the path, we offer our humble respects and gratitude. We are all tiny custodians of a great heritage we have hardly begun to understand or act upon. And along with the benefits we ourselves have experienced - by dint of the grace of all those who have come before - we have likewise assumed, knowingly or unknowingly, a responsibility for all those still to come. This sense of responsibility is the tradition upon which yoga has been developed and by which it will endure. It was with a view to assuming a small part of that responsibility that YOGAEXPO was initiated back in 2002, and it is with a view to continuing that service that we have reorganised as YOGAVISION in 2014. We hope that whatever we may achieve by way of a contribution will prove to be of some small value to the cause of yoga, of some satisfaction to those who have come before, and of some benefit to those yet to come.
