YOU USED THEM WHEN YOU SHOULD HAVE HELPED THEM If every rich - TopicsExpress

YOU USED THEM WHEN YOU SHOULD HAVE HELPED THEM If every rich voice for the poor was translated into a donation for the poor, the poor would be better off. If there is one thing I know, it is that the poor have not lost their voice. They are the loudest everywhere we go. What the poor have lost are opportunities and the the ability to provide for themselves and families. They need more than a spokesperson in the rich man. They need a helping hand or an opportunity to earn. So before you speak, set aside the yellow shirt and campaign speech and pick up a few book lists. Helping is more effective representation than talking. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR THE POOR LATELY? The Government helps by 1. Giving $500 to every student entering Form One; 2. Every year, 25 students from each district are added to the Primary School Programme, where Grades K to Six receive free text books once they return what they had previously. There are hundreds on that programme. Uniforms are sometimes included; 3. New Secondary Schools were built in each district and subsequently partial zoning was introduced, to ensure access and reduce transportation cost for the poor; 4. The School bus programme continues so that those who cannot afford can go to school; 5. Government introduced and continues a $1.00 meal on the School Feeding Programme so the poor children can have a meal in school; 6. Government has increased the number of Sir Arthur Lewis Community College bursaries; 7. All Government Parliamentary Representatives are issuing partial scholarships. Yesterday, Hon. Shawn Edward awarded forty (40) school assistance packages; 8. SSDF assists many through Koudmain Ste Lucie. This is the Governments ACTION for the poor. Where is yours? Did you think of the poor when you were globetrotting on their purse? Where was the voice of the poor when you were spending $500,000.00 on a telephone bills? Did you invite the poor to sit under your million dollar tent? Did they benefit from Boxing in Paradise? Did you feel so passionately about the poor when you guaranteed empty seats on American Airlines? Do you know, the million dollars you threw at Amy Winehouse could have sent hundreds of poor people to school? Do you think it was fair that the poor people pay for Third World or your campaign paraphernalia? You had an opportunity to help the poor while you were in office and you used them. I was hoping you would use this opportunity now to help them with your actions! The poor need more than a spokesperson in a rich man.~JJP
