I changed my god because I have questions concerning the rituals I had to do always, the hypocrisy I have to live with, the lack of hope and the uncertainty in his moral judgment as regards people with different opinion. Let me explain what I mean; My former god wanted me to commit myself to RITUALS. The moment I fail to follow through, the fear of his judgment comes upon me. That is not RELATIONSHIP that is bondage. My former god wanted me to be an hypocrite. Yes, he wants me to deny that I am a sinner who is in need of help from one higher than me from time to time. How can I do evil on his behalf and be praised, yet condemn others doing the same thing by themselves. If I steal to promote him, I am fine with him but if I steal and spend it on myself, he calls me a thief. How come things that are wrong are okay-ed if I do it in his name? That baffles me- why is he morally biased? My former god wants me to work for everything he wants to give. I told him I want peace in my heart, he asked me never to question him. I told him I want hope, he says he cant promise anything for the future unless I stay true to him. Then I asked, why is he not sure of the future when the purpose of my following him is to have hope for the future. Then he got annoyed and told me to stay committed to him and if need-be pay with my life before I can have a future with him. That is not a future, that is intimidation. My former god told me to be good to everyone for it is a rewarding virtue but then mentions some people he hates and I should hate them too if I want his favour. That seems to be double standard. Love everyone, but hate some people. All these truly bothered me until I came in contact with another God.And today I have found the true living & loving God who tells me: 1. He doesnt care about the rituals, He only wants a relationship. He said in a relationship, only love is applied not judgment. For perfect love will cast out all my fears. This is so different from what I was used to, I am free to serve Him not because of judgment but because of love. 2. He told me that he knows that I still struggle with sin and He knows so well how much help I need to live righteous. He said while I am in the flesh and struggling- He will give me His righteousness and whenever I fail , I should come to Him and confess my sins and He will always forgive me and cleanse me from all my unrighteousness. He said; all have sinned and fall short of the glory(standard) of God. He said all sins remain sins by His righteous standard. Infact he said, if I do evil on his behalf, it shows whose I am and whom I truly serve. He said He is holy and to do an unholy thing in His name, shows Him out to be unholy so SINS will always have one wage before Him, death which is separation from the living God. 3. He told me; the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus for I do not and cannot work to be saved. He said my hope is in His promise. He showed me 1 Peter 1:3 which says; Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. He said I have a hope that is alive. That is, By His sacrifice for me on the cross and resurrection, He is able to keep hope alive for me. He said, he will give me a future and a hope. That is a bold statement and my former god could not make that kind of bold statement. All he demands is to always try very hard to please him. But not my new God. He gives me all things freely. 4. He told me For God so love the World and He gave His only begotten son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. He loves everyone and hates no one. He said, His love for the World is not dependent on their obedience to Him but because He loved and died for everyone in the World. He said, I cant hate anyone for He died for all. You will begin to wonder who was my former god? He is the god of many people today who do not know the living god. His name is RELIGION. Religion is that god that enslaved me in the past. It was Religion that could not guarantee my future unless I obey him till death. It was religion that demand I work for everything good that i want in life. And it was religion that that wants me to be ritualistic and do bad things for her to justify/prove my obedience and submission. But the new true loving God is whom I found in the person of Jesus Christ. While I was still a sinner, Christ Jesus died for me and offered me salvation and peace. he knows how weak I am but encourages me to receive His grace for my life and bear His righteousness. With Jesus Christ, I do not have to hide for He accepts me just the way I am and changes me unto a new creation. Now I have a relationship instead of mere rituals of praying, being good to others and trying hard to make heaven. In this relationship- He gives me freely everything I need for life until He returns. Are you tired of the promises and rituals of religion. Try Jesus Christ now. Just call upon Jesus Christ to save you and give you a relationship with God. Tell Him you do not want to be a slave to religion anymore, you want a relationship. The scriptures says; whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. You can be saved today from religion- whatever name it is called even if it uses a a tag called Christianity or whatever- Jesus Christ alone gives peace. Try Him now privately & personally and see. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
