YOURE HAVING FUN ... THEN ... LOST. WHAT THEN? “What I see now was a Godwink ... I was EIGHT or NINE ... we were visiting my aunt and uncle in Cordell, Oklahoma. I got on one of MY COUSIN’S BIKES and took off. It was fun. I RODE FAST. Up and down hilly streets, not even thinking about where I was going! Then I started to realize that I WAS LOST! I cried my eyes out, feeling panic, riding around to see where I was. I decided, finally, to JUST KNOCK ON SOMEONES DOOR. There was row of houses. A MAN answered the door. I told him I was LOST, but, didn’t even know my aunt’s last name. She was just ‘Mary Francis’ to me and my cousins were Stanley and Donald. Come to find out, the man was a SCHOOL PRINCIPAL or teacher where my cousin’s Stanley and Donald attended. HE KNEW THEM! So thats how God winked and I WAS RESCUED from that terror of being lost!” David Keith Schoppa •••• Do these words feel familiar? “I once was lost but now am found, was blind, but now I see.” John Newton wrote them over 250 years ago. “Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far and Grace will lead me home.” When YOU are lost, like young David was, feeling bewildered and panicky, think of the best line in Newton’s Amazing Grace song: “How precious did that Grace appear The hour I first believed.” Wishes for wonderful winks this week.
