Yasiel Puig blasted his 18th home run of the season last night, tying him with Don Demeter (1959) for the fifth-most homers by a Los Angeles rookie. Puig’s 18 homers are the most by a Dodger rookie since Mike Piazza’s 35 home runs in 1993. * Puig’s homer to straight-away center field was estimated at 457 feet, which makes it the second-longest home run in PETCO Park history behind only a 458-foot shot by Adrian Gonzalez on April 26, 2009 off the Pirates’ Ross Ohlendorf.
