Years ago, in the late 1980s, when I first heard this prophetic news commentary (apparently first recorded by Paul Harvey in 1965 and updated since then to the version you may listen to below), I dismissed it as overly alarmist. I was reminded of its warnings when my daughter recently posted it on her Facebook page. Whether you believe that evil has its ultimate source in the intentional ministrations of a created being like Satan or simply in the history of our human condition, I now believe the events of the last fifty years have proved my optimism regarding the reformation of our human condition or some trumping technologically driven human triumph over evil naively wrong, and the prophetic predictions recorded below as eerily correct as so many biblical prophecies have also turned out to be true. The 19th century French poet Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867) whose literary writings and life reveal a man tormented by any number of evils wrote: The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist. As a follower of Jesus (who himself was tormented more than once by the Evil One), I agree with Baudelaires insight. Moving forward, we ought to take the below recorded warnings more seriously; if for no other reason than they currently appear to be becoming our daily headlines. Our Father....deliver us from evil....
