Yes! We will be idle no more! Let the heartbeat begin, and the drums talk across the oceans of time and create sacred spaces and councils across the lands! The Anishinabe story of the Drum goes like this: Womb, womb! Womb, womb! The sound of the Drum walked the land, coming close to Creator, who was giving thanks for all He/She had created....except those crazy humans! What was He/She going to do with them? Always, they were bickering and fighting!! Spirit of the Drum told Creator she thought she could help. "How?" Creator wanted to know. Spirit of the Drum said, "If I go to the center of each village and offer myself to the people, they can play me and align with the heartbeat of Mother Earth. That way, when anything happens - a birth, a death, a celebration, an argument, they willisten to the heartbeat and find their truth with the rhythm, dance and song. In this way, they will come together, rather than drift apart." And so it is that every indigenous peoples have the drum....
