Broken Wing shared a photo. 7 hours ago UPDATE REGARDING BROKEN WINGS COCO [Picture taken at Tranquility Base on Monday, December 1, 2014] On November 26th, 2014 during the afternoon feeding, it was discovered that Coco sustained as self-inflicted injury. He was rushed to the Roadrunner Animal Hospital which was the closest to Tranquility Base. Coco was stitched up and allowed to come home that same night. On November 28th a SOAP Report was received indicating that the injury appeared to be caused by Cocos claw as he forcibly removed the Saf-T Shield from his neck during Gregs absence and therefore most likely not caused by separation anxiety. On December 1, 2014, the original Lexan Saf-T Shield E-collar that Coco had on the night of the injury was retrieved and it was discovered that Coco was able to remove part of the rubber gasket that is suppose to protect the next area when the collar is in place. By Coco removing a portion of the rubber gasket, it exposed a sharp corner of the Lexan which dug into Cocos neck as Coco tried to forcibly remove the collar. Therefore, it has been determined that separation anxiety was not the cause of this particular injury although it was self-inflicted by Coco trying to remove the collar. It should be noted that Coco has not left Greg Kevakians side since the incident. Because the Lexan Saf-T e-collar failed in this particular situation, Greg Kevakian, Founder of Broken Wing, refuses to use that particular model any further at Tranquility Base, opting to use one of a better design when needed. Coco completes her medication regiment tomorrow and he will have a follow-up with the vet tomorrow as well.
