Yesterday Aberdeen Central MSP Kevin Stewart submitted a motion to the Scottish Government adding weight to local MSYP’s Open letter to ACC. Motion S4M-09218: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Date Lodged: 03/03/2014 Condemnation of Aberdeen City Council’s Anti-democratic Ban That the Parliament condemns Aberdeen City Council’s Labour-led administration on what it sees as its anti-democratic proposal to ban the Scottish Ministers from council property; understands that, historically, the council’s assets have been regarded as the people’s property and that, because of this, the Aberdeen Town House is commonly known as the Toon’s Hoose, or the house belonging to the people of the town; believes that what it sees as the councils nonsensical proposal could lead to attempts to ban others such as local parliamentarians, the media or pressure groups from buildings, parks and other facilities and that this would further dilute democratic interaction, and calls on the administration to reflect, apply a bit of gumption and abandon what it considers this daft proposal.
