Yesterday, Carter and I disagreed about a trivial matter and I spent several minutes explaining to him why I was right and he was wrong. He then pointed out a key fact that I had been overlooking, which completely undermined my argument and basically proved that he was right. Once I realized this, I tried to be a good example for him by admitting my mistake and acknowledging that he was right. Inside, though, I was worrying that the tables have turned and that I may never again have the intellectual upper hand in our relationship. Having a smart kid can suck sometimes.
