Yesterday, I discovered when trimming the maple tree in our front yard the source of part of what was causing the dead limbs in our tree. It seems that we had a MAJOR carpenter ant infestation in one of the dead branches. Once I cut down the dead branch and sawed into it ants started swarming everywhere (there were hundreds of them). A quart of ant spray later and the ants are now dead as well as the larvae inside the dead branch. I hope thats the end of the issue but, Ive got this nagging fear that these ants will show up again.
