Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting Peter Mtoko. He has vast experience in training and business consultancy including Strategic planning, business systems and controls. In addition, he is a renowned Trainer of Trainers in best practice presentation skills, grooming and self-branding within the Southern African region. After being impressed with my technical skills, he remarked in passing; “Maston, the greatest danger befalling us today in Africa is that MANY PEOPLE DON’T KNOW THAT THEY DON’T KNOW…” he was making reference to my using shortcut keys on the keyboard while he expected me to be touching the mouse while I work… he said he was humbled at my technical skills and would like to learn from me. LESSON: Am sitting with one of Southern Africa’s best business minds and he admits he still wants to learn… It then hit me hard! How many of us are so content with our technical skills, talents, exposure, and work positions that we still miss the point: Knowledge is accumulative; you can never have enough knowledge! The worst part, it is so sad to be a smart person who doesn’t know that he doesn’t know… #LessonLearnt
