Yesterday I received a memo from the Secretary of State’s Office stating that the Voter ID legislation is now enforceable. The key test for any law requiring Voter ID law should be that it ensures all Texans have easy access to obtain proper identification. Hundreds of thousands of Texans (for a variety of reasons) do not have the required ID and many counties either provide no place to obtain the proper identification or offer only very limited hours. This Voter ID is law fails the easy access test and will fail many Texans.
