Yesterday, Jack A. Zucker and I facilitated a Photography workshop, with the help of many talented people. We had over 85 people packed into 3 studio bays and a styling area. The air was filled with energy. I had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented people I have ever known. getting to know each of them, has been such a blessing. Today as we all return to normal life I am hopeful that everyone came away with something valuable. We had a great time! I feel like Ive been hit by a truck, but I am grateful for my community, and feeling very joyful. Socrates is often credited with a quote that described education as “the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.” This is a philosophy I prescribe to when attending creative workshops myself. Sometimes we may know more about the subject matter than an instructor, or have our own tried and true methods for doing things, but we can still gain valuable insight when we open ourselves up to new ideas, or a different point of view. And, when we place ourselves in a creative, interactive environment the possibilities for growth and inspiration are limitless. My hope for everyone who generously gave of there time yesterday, as mentors, artists, models and participants is that you came away feeling inspired, energized and uplifted. We all contributed to making the day what it was for each other!
