Yesterday morning I had just finished 18 holes at the golf course - TopicsExpress

Yesterday morning I had just finished 18 holes at the golf course and as I walking to my car, I saw a young man in our Laughlin Air Park/Memorial at Ribas-Dominicci Circle. He looked familiar so I walked up to him as he was singing and dancing as if celebrating. The young officer was our Nigerian graduate and the recipient of our Citizenship award from graduation the night before. We talked for a while and when I asked him about leaving the US and going home to see his family, he seemed visibly emotional. I got the impression that he was happy to go home and fly the SU-25 ("A-10-ski"), but I think he was also going to miss his friends, has Nigerian counterparts still at Laughlin AFB, and actually life in the US as an Air Force Officer. He was so humble, so nice, and his interactions with all people were always compassionate and respectful...he was so deserving of the Citizenship award. It is amazing what you can learn from others when you keep your eyes and mind open and alert. I am optimistic that the American dream is still alive, but we are often too busy making other plans to notice.
