Yesterday, on a bone chilling evening in Boston, more than 50 people attended an outdoor interfaith vigil in support of the delegates to the Lima Climate Change Conference. Speakers included long-time religious-environmental leaders Jim Antal and Fred Small along with representatives from Bahai, Protestant, Catholic, Jewish et al communities. Prayers were offered for the earth and its peoples to invoke a more sustainable future. And words of support were directed to the conference delegates in Lima to bolster the difficult work theyre doing as they define the contents of the Climate Change Agreement that will come up for global ratification in Paris, 2015. This is just one of many simultaneous vigils held around the world in support of the Lima Conference. In future months, Boston vigil members will keep in touch to sustain the effort to create a meaningful agreement that world leaders will be willing to sign next year.
