Yesterday the wind caught this leaf and threw at my shin as I was walking home from town. It felt like it was giving me a hug and begging to come with me so I decided the right thing to do would be to pick it off my shin and bring it along. It was good company and Im half certain it joined in when I started singing me and my leaaaafy, strolling down the avenue, avenue, aven-ue-ue-ue. I kept imagining bumping into people I know and them asking what on earth was I doing and me replying oh, just walking my leaf. It wasnt long before I actually bumped into someone who asked me what I was doing but by then it was so well rehearsed in my head that I think we both just accepted it as reasonable. I didnt mean to take it home, it was only meant to be a short lift, whistle-stop sight seeing etc. but leafy was wet and cold and Id have felt guilty if I hadnt let it in to dry off. Now I have a giant leaf in my bedroom and I cant throw it out because Im emotionally attached.
