Yet another sell out concert at the RM Museum last night (Thurs - TopicsExpress

Yet another sell out concert at the RM Museum last night (Thurs 18th Sept) with a very special and varied programme of music to capture our faithful audiences imagination. (We try hard not to disappoint!! :-) ) A bit of audience participation never goes amiss and all were in full voice when invited to sing along with a selection of 1st World War medleys! Film music and some better known classics added to the list and brilliant solo features came from our Principal Trumpet Jonathon Yates with Through The Eyes Of Love and later with a Flugel Horn rendering of Whiter Shade of Pale that Dave Cole had cleverly worked into his arrangement of some famous 60s classics entitled Kaleidoscope. This also featured yet another super rendering of Lady in Red by Eric Payne on Alto Sax . Just after the interval following the wonderful film score melody of Lawrence of Arabia, came the turn of Ian Thomas (Tenor Sax) to step up and enthrall the audience with his version of The Pink Panther! - Ians playing was truly well recieved with the additional support of his cartoon nemesis making an appearance during the rendering. The character was seen to flit around the audience in true Pink Panther style to add a touch humour to the proceedings! Congratulations to all of our soloists including our excellent Elaine Coker whose beautiful Oboe interpretation of Ave Maria was truly exquisite - shown clearly by our audiences response! Altogether a wonderful evening judging by the audience reaction and comments. Next up is our performance at Winchester Cathedral in 2 weeks time on Thurs 2nd October at 7.30p.m together with the Military Wives Choirs of both Portsmouth and Winchester. - A definite one for your calendar! - Click on to the banner below to expand picture for full details
