You all remember Joseph, the senior who turned up in a Long Island - TopicsExpress

You all remember Joseph, the senior who turned up in a Long Island shelter in July and came to me a couple weeks back? Time for an update! Joseph has settled right it here, getting along splendidly with all the others. Angel, who mostly looks at other dogs as if they were bugs rather than kindred spirits, likes him. She really, really likes him~ They pace together in tandem, shoulder to shoulder around the house and yard. She is also teaching him the fine art of looking at me as if they hadn’t just eaten an hour ago and are positively starving. Angel completely tolerates his coming into the bedroom to sleep. He is the only dog who can walk in, all around her, pace back and forth and finally settle into sleep, without her so much as wiggling a whisker. With any other dog, she wakes up and has to do her own pacing, circling, pacing circling routine for at least 15 minutes, refusing to settle back into spot (her spot would be the entire width of the bed~ lol) until the other dog leaves or curls up far away from her bed. Daily I come home to 4 dogs (3 of whom are either fully or partially blind) milling about, anticipating my arrival. They bump into and off each other as they greet me, while I try to keep them from walking on Tess, who insists on throwing herself on back, waiting for her tummy rubs. His preferred place to be when I am home is within 2 ft of where ever I am. This means I slide my feet around as if I had puppies in the house since he often sneaks up behind me while I am doing things in the kitchen. I have almost turned around and stepped on him a few times. Alternatively, he wedges himself between my legs and the counter. This is a dog who loves full body contact, and a never ending supply and hugs and cuddles
