Philippians 1:16 The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the *defense of the gospel*. You know when you open your Bible to the New Testament, and you see Matthew/Mark/Luke/John? Usually it says in its entirety the gospel according to Matthew. The Gospel is not merely the life death and resurrection of Christ, it is His life as documented in scripture. I love how Paul is adamant about defending that. If we change or accept or proclaim something different than what we know about Jesus from those accounts in The Gospels, no matter how minor, we are not defending the Gospel. Satan is a deceiver and it is his highest aim to kill steal and destroy. A little chisel here and a little chisel there (its just a little bit-- sound like leaven at all?) and suddenly the rock of our salvation is sandy ground. I pray that we may each be found faithful in the full proclamation of the Gospel, the life of Christ, and every detail that God has been so gracious to give us and preserve for us through scripture down through the ages.
