You cant but wonder if these men were black & the cops were white. This is something that will be in our thoughts until we learn to be colrblind. We cannot allow race to be an issue when it comes to criminals & murderers! If we as a nation can become colorblind we will not keep hearing about how race is an issue in any thing in our country. While we seek to reform prisoners we just be sure that they are ready to be back into society before we let them out. I understand about finances but we must make sure that these people deserve to be returned to society. If we did this it would stop the revolving door syndrome. We must make them accountable for what they did but also unless we teach them to have a trade once they return to society. So many criminals are so young that they were never developed a skill that would enable them to be self sufficient. They come out with that awful P on their work records that hardly anyone will hire them. They can only find low paying jobs that require heavy labor. We have to find a way to stop the cycle! I do not know the answer as I was aware of someone that was in need of a job & little training. I do not think that we should just give up. We must strive to find an answer to all of this! Once a prisoner has a verdict I believe if he is given an 8 yr. sentence then he must serve 8 yrs. The public is really fed up with those sentences being given & only a small amount of their sentence is served & they are back on the street doing crimes all over again. Make it unwanted enough that they will never want to return but give them some training so that they will have those life skills that they can find work & be self sufficient after their sentence is finished!
