You know Im getting better when I feel like creating controversy. So I am watching eNCA news and I see the massive press conference to announce the South African Cricket World Cup team. They dressed up a full stage. Made even I who is not an advent cricket supporter feel proud to see the boys being called one at a time and receive their national team blazers. With an adoring fanbase there to cheer the guys and confetti to make the atmosphere festive. Then I watched our proudly Zimbabwean convenors announce our World Cup team. It was done in a small auditorium. Looked hurried. I did not see not one cricket player. Only the Zim Cricket Administrators and sports journalists covering the press conference. The announcement of the names was somewhat shrouded in doubt as to the capabilities of our players. Only a list of names was provided for ZBC News. Not even pictures for us the Zimbabwean public to get to see who our players are and for us to rally behind them and show our support to them. Personally I am quite upset at Zimbabwe Cricket. We are patriotic Zimbabweans who want to celebrate our team. Other nations are proudly declaring who made the cut. We seem unsure of ourselves. No wonder morale in the Zim Cricket squad is low. Come on Zim Cricket. We can certainly do better than this. Lets be confident and show support to our boys. To my fellow sports fundis Dirk Viljoen, Dean du Plessis, Mark Pozzo, Godfrey Chris Koti please lets do something to give our boys the recognition they deserve.
