You look into his eyes and see nothing but gloom and resignation. - TopicsExpress

You look into his eyes and see nothing but gloom and resignation. You look at his body language and see nothing but defeat; a far cry from what you would expect from a cat named Scooter. He’s been at the rescue center since 2010. He was born around that time as well. Never lived in a home; never slept on a bed with his human; never been outside in fresh air chasing flies and climbing trees. When younger, Scooter had been offered for adoption several times. They took him for Adoptathons, but sadly, every time they would have to bring him back, as all the other cats and kittens would get adopted but him. No rhyme or reason as to why; just an unlucky draw. Even more tragically, every time they brought him back and put him back in his cage, Scooter would get more and more sad and withdrawn. Cat flu would invariably set, followed by medication. In more stressful times, when there are many, many cats at the center for example, Scooter starts sneezing again. In times when the windows are open in the warm days, and lots of cats are adopted out so there aren’t that many he has to share his space with, he is fine, not sneezing, no cat flu. Today, Scooter is about 5 years old. He doesn’t go for Adoptathons anymore. He spends his days and nights in a cage, oftentimes with two other cats that share his fate. Sometimes he does get to walk around on the floor, with other cats; that’s when on sunny days, he finds a spot high up on a table or a cupboard and basks in the sun. Sometimes, when I come to the rescue and see him like that, I can see this distant look in his eye, and wonder; where is he right now? What is he thinking about? What would he say if he could talk? I am asking all of you again, as I have done so many times before to please share Scooter’s story and help me find him a human that will help to replace that gloom and defeat with loud purrs and contentment. A human that will have patience and wisdom to help Scooter get used to living in a home, and show him that sleeping on soft and nice-smelling sofas and beds is Ok, and even encouraged. A human that will teach him to play with cat toys and enjoy cat nip. A human that will love him for his past and his future. So PLEASE share Scooter’s story, and ask your friends to share as well. If we don’t find him the human that has been waiting for him, he will spend another 5 years in that cage. The rescue will provide medication for cat flu, should it be necessary. Scooter is wonderful with other cats, dogs unknown, but with proper introductions and respectful dogs, there should not be any problems. He currently lives in a small rescue in Kawartha Lakes, On. The rescue is reducing the regular adoption fee to $50. If you would like to get more information on Scooter, please message Anette Targowski. Thank you in advance, for all your help, all your efforts to help Scooter. Together, I know we can find his human
