Young Artist Workshop 10 studio classes starting in mid November on monday afternoon 3:00-3:50 Ages 6-11 Elementary school age 4:00-5:00 Ages10-14 Middle school age Fee: $325.00 supplies included Classes held at The Gilbert and Bennet Cultural Center on New st. in Georgetown Ct. In this visual arts class, children will enjoy and develop their artistic talents, stretch their imagination and heighten their sensory awareness. They will be guided through the art making processes and techniques of painting, printmaking, design and sculpture. Through their efforts at mastering these basic disciplines, they will gain self-confidence and develop pride in their artistic expressions. Each project will introduce children to an artistic technique, the famous artist that developed it and its role in the context of art history. Kathy Coe is a classically trained portrait painter having studied and subsequently taught at The National Academy of Fine Art and Design in New York City, Pratt Institute and Ducret School of the Arts. She has won numerous awards for her work including: The Elizabeth Green Shields Grant, The National Academy Lorraine Grace award, The Edward Mooney Traveling Scholarship, The National Academy Annual Helen M. Loggi award, The James Sudan Bronze medal and The Salmugundi Silver Medal for drawing. She has taught children’s workshops at her studio and during the summer at the Naturalists Notebook in Sear Harbor Maine as well as privately for the past 20 years. She received her undergraduate BFA at Alfred University School of Art and Design and her Masters in Photography from Maryland College of Art and Design. Sarah has lead many groups of children in community Murals as well as art appreciation in local schools. She has taught photography and the studio arts at the National Cathedral School in Washington DC, Rye Country Day School as well as the Silvermine art studios in New Canaan Ct. Currently she is a teacher in Redding working with children at the Redding Montessori School. [email protected]
