Your Smile Made the Urchin Smile You smiled and April became a lightning flash, With blue sparks on your eyes You borrowed for your smile a magenta splash Dew stored from wintry dawn, Eyeshadow from Summer dusk Your smile evokes all elegance Spreading perfumes like deer musk. Time passed without my knowing Light enters the crevice of my mind Gone is the uncertainty A web of passions flourished behind, What a splendor is your smile You create an emotional fever, In its never ending dance Your smile becomes a sparkling river From your car to Ghosh da’s house You saw a beggar child smiling at you A pale emptiness in the feeble light The wave of want recoiled in the night His story you never knew . You reached out for his rickety hand Outside your car the urchin did stand Your five -rupee coin in his palm did shine An innocent smile in his eyes, so divine.
