Powered by ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING REPORTED AT SDSU Dear Sandra, November 23, 2014 (San Diego)-San Diego State University has issued a safety alert for students after a report of an attempted kidnapping shortly after midnight. A student at SDSU was walking home at 55th Street and Aztec Walk at 12:35 a.m. when she dropped her phone. Before she could retrieve it, a man in a gold or silver Toyota Camry with a sunroof picked up the phone and went back to the vehicle, which had several passengers. Minutes later, that vehicle returned and the man offered the phone back to the victim. As she approached the vehicle, one of the occupants tried to pull her into the car. The victim was able to escape, uninjured, and call police. The cell phone was returned. Two of the suspects are African-American men. One had a slender build, was about 5 ft. 7 to 6 ft. tall, with short black curly hair and several tattoos on his chest and arms. He was wearing khaki pants, camouflage boxers and was not wearing a shirt. The second suspect wore a flannel shirt. There are no descriptions of the other suspects in the vehicle. Detectives are investigating several leads. The investigation is ongoing. Campus officials urge students to be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious activity to police by dialing 9-1-1.
