You’ve probably heard about the use of goats to mow down weeds and plants that are toxic to horses and other domesticated grazing animals. Well in Africa Solanum campylacanthum, an indigenous East African shrub that is noxious to cattle, sheep and humans, is taking over the farming and grazing lands but luckily elephants, dik-diks and other native species can safely eat these plants. The result, farmers and owners of livestock in Africa who used to see the native animals as being pesky, now see them in a positive light.
