Yuri Janssen, de man aan wie ik goede herinneringen heb als fantastische collega, de man die al een eeuwige tijd onze blogberichten vertaald, bedankt weer!! August 13th, a new Ilse Ilse did experience the last week of our holiday just as intense as the first two weeks. She was able to do all the things she wanted to do, making long walks, swimming, sunbathing and eating, eating a lot. 5 kilos heavier, 5 kilos better, 5 kilos of more force, 5 necessary, very welcome kilos. Once we returned home, Ilse wanted to cycle, cycle a lot. As such, she did. Every day. Cycling together for the first time was very special, cycling together again for the first time in 4 years. Cycling together, how special. Past Friday a blood puncture to check if the values are at their proper levels for the following cure. All values were perfect. High leukos, high HB, high neutrophiles, and liver and kidneys in an excellent condition. For us, this confirms that Ilse will be able to sustain the current cures for a very long time. Currently, no small steps ahead, but leaps. Giant leaps. Spirit, enthusiasm, energy, power. Ilse did transform from a child with the characteristic chemo look into a bright adolescent. A fresh, clear, steong and happy lady with a healthy tan. A new Ilse! Past Monday, the commence of the second cure of pills. The second mono therapy. A repetition of the first cure, hardly any side effects, business as usual. Monday going to fysio therapy by bicycle. Something which was impossible to do during the cure of chemo. Ilse indicated the fysiotherapist that she wants to go train 3 times a week. We do share the opinion with the fysiotherapist regarding the amount of trainings per week. We think two times a week is more than enough. Its yet many times more than once every three weeks, as she used to do until not so long ago. Today, Ilse departed to a friend, for three days, on a camping site. As such, the last three days of the current chemo therapy will pass outside her parents supervision. We are confident more than enough in order to let Ilse go. Ilse will be capable enough to take the responsability to take the correct medication at the right times. Without any doubt. We are happy for her friend and the mother of her friend to share this confidence, they just dare to do so. Next week, this beautiful holiday will be over, going to school again, going to school again every day, from the first hour onwards. By bike. Quite some changes...
