Zavala County, Texas is in bad shape. About 1-hr southwest of San Antonio, with unemployment in the 14% range. In 2013 I heard first-hand accounts that it is a tough place to live. Then there is Gillespie County, 1-hr northwest of San Antonio. Now, Gillespie Co. is doing well. Unemployment is a bit over 4%! Question: why not move from Crystal City, Zavala Co, one of the poorest counties in the United States, to get a job in Frederickburg, Gillespie Co, one of the counties with lowest unemployment, where construction and other related industries are booming? It is a 2 & 1/2 hr drive, not a 2 & 1/2 day drive. Is it a moral right to live where you want? I have very little patience for this self-entitlement dictating that I need to live where I choose to live and since there are no jobs for me in this place you are going to pay for me to live here. Voters in Zavala Co. voted 83% democratic in 2012 - enough said. The government is the employer. Anyway, when reading this map, let us keep these two names in mind: Zavala and Gillespie, 2 and 1/2 hrs away from each other. My social responsibility to Zavala is to tell its residents about Gillespie.
