Zoe is looking and feeling great, shes had kinder and art therapy today along with general playing and being silly. (Ill post a couple of photos in the coming days). Were still here for a little longer though as her scans from Friday have thrown a curve ball...... Her chest CT scan (from Friday) has shown a new growth on the surface of her lung.....she will be going for surgery tomorrow as its easily accessible to remove. There are 2 likely scenarios both of which are highly probable and we wont know the outcome until Thurs/Fri....these outcomes are: 1. Its possible its infected tissue and most likely a fungal infection. This will require her to have a small brake from chemo (a week or so) and oral antibiotics for up to 3 months. Chemo will continue as planned with a potential lower dose for number 8 to aid her body to fight the infection a little better. High dose chemo will also continue as planned. 2. Its diseased tissue, which would more than likely be the same cancer shes already diagnosed with (Ewings). Where we go with that is anyones guess right now as we are already on the relapse protocol. All fingers and toes are crossed right now that this is just a fungal infection and not diseased tissue. Whatever it is we will deal with it and so will Zoe. Its times like this when being so young makes things easier....ignorance can be bliss and being such a happy kid, it breaks your heart when shes genuinely upset, so I dont need to try and explain. So, for now we wait and see, theres nothing more we can do other than keep calm, and carry on.
