__________________WORLD ANIMAL DAY TRIBUTE_____________________ As today marks the World Animal Day all over the globe, I want to seize this golden opportunity to give tributes to all the animals who have played notable roles in my developmental curve. First of these animals is my childhood pet (JACK) Jack was a very loyal and intelligent dog. It played football, ate sugar cane, groundnut, garri, roamed the top of our fence, half the time, to be sure no intruder came close. Most importantly Jack rescued me from a dog bite when I was 12. Although Jack passed away years back, I still remember every moment of its existence. Secondly, I want to give tribute all the fishes, Mackerel (Alaran) in particular, then Sardines, Catfish, Croaker, Tilapia, Kote, Panla and all others that I find incredibly tasty especially when fried and adequately seasoned. Thirdly, The Chickens! Goodness! Local chicken is still the best! the flavour, the texture, the taste, I mean, you guys rock! then the other chicken species; Broilers, Cockerel, spent layers and the rest. You guys are incredible on rice! Not forgetting all the matured cows, sheep and goats of this world. You guys have all been a formidable part of this journey. And until of late, Bush meat (for classified reasons.) Bats however have never really been part of the orchestra, but can not be totally neglected. And to all the wild animals we go to watch at the zoo, on the Tv (Nat Geo Wild) and those that sneak into the compound uninvited, You guys are all part of the show. At least Noah thought it right to harbour you guys in his ark. On a final note, I want you guys to know that we humans love you and its not that we are outrightly mean and savagely but you have to understand that your protein forms an essential part of our daily-protein-allowance/ requirement for proper human growth and development. So consequently we can not do without you guys expect for some sworn-vegetarians among us who are sincere to their dietary choice. In fact, the world would have been happier for animals if humans were all vegetarians anyway but the likelihood of that happening is far less than Zero! So *Happy World Animal Day! still.
