Yılmaz Güney, actually Yılmaz Pütün, (* 1 April 1937 in Adana, † September 9, 1984 in Paris) was a Kurdish-Turkish actor and director. Biography [Edit] Yılmaz Güney was an Alevi paternal and maternal zazaischer Kurdish origin. He came from a very poor family. His mother was born in the province of Şanlıurfa, his father from Varto, Muş province. As a student at the University of Ankara, he met the director Atif Yilmaz, with whom he made his first films. He often played the poor and oppressed people, does not give up in spite of everything. After the military coup in 1960, he was imprisoned for publication communist writings. 1970 he succeeded with Umut - The hope of the ultimate artistic breakthrough as a director. As a filmmaker, he was also an international success. Yılmaz Güney was arrested several times because of his socialist beliefs. He married in 1970 Fatoş, with the 1971, he had a son also Yılmaz said. Güney was convicted of murdering a Turkish judge in Yumurtalık on 13 July 1974. This was private and happened to be in the same restaurant as Güney and his wife.
